Volker Glies, born in 1971, studied in Kiel and has been a licensed lawyer since 2001. After working in a law firm specializing in tax law in Hamburg, he moved to a large multidisciplinary law firm in North Rhine-Westphalia for several years and joined Gerken Rechtsanwälte in 2005. Mr. Glies is a specialist lawyer for tax law.
Mr. Glies has worked extensively in criminal tax law for over 20 years and has been active in this area as a speaker for the Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony / Saxony-Anhalt Tax Consultants Association.
Mr. Glies also advises clients in particular in the areas of mergers & acquisitions, reorganization law and tax structuring.
In litigation, Mr. Glies represents lawyers and tax consultants in the defense of liability claims as well as managing directors and board members in damages proceedings against them under their directors and officers insurance policies.
Mr. Glies is a member of the Deutsche Steuerjuristische Gesellschaft e.V., a member of the tax law and inheritance law working groups of the Deutscher Anwaltverein and a member of the Hamburger Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Strafverteidigerinnen und Strafverteidiger e.V..
